Aaron Boyll Joins Varcode Board of Directors
NEW YORK (June 1, 2016) – Varcode Ltd. has raised $2 million from private investors to bring online its proprietary manufacturing platform and initiate mass production of its patented “smart barcodes,” a central element in Varcode’s revolutionary cold chain monitoring solutions.
The new funding, which brings total invested capital in Varcode to over $13 million, will also allow the company to bolster its global sales and marketing efforts to reach customers in cold chain supply with precise, data-driven monitoring solutions at a fraction of the cost of the technologies in use today.
The most recent funding round included major investments by Jerry Kent and Howard Wood, co-founders of Charter Communications in the early 1990s and partners in a number of successful ventures since then, including investment and management company Cequel III and cable operator Suddenlink (sold to Altice for an enterprise value of $9.1 billion in December 2015). Wood continues as a partner in Cequel III, where Kent is Chairman and CEO. Kent also serves as Chairman and CEO of TierPoint, a leading national provider of hybrid IT solutions and operator of 39 premier data centers in 20 U.S. markets.
“We’re excited to help Varcode begin mass producing its unique, cost-effective solutions for the cold chain industry,” Kent said. “The company’s patented label technology is unparalleled in the cold chain industry today, and Varcode’s complete solution will be of great value to customers.”

As part of the transaction, Aaron Boyll will join Varcode’s board of directors. Most recently with Cequel III as Vice President, Corporate Development, Mr. Boyll also served as CEO of Cequel III’s joint venture video technology startup, and continues to serve on the board of Cequel’s SaaS investment, DxContinuum.
