In this month’s Food Logistics release, Joe Battoe, CEO Varcode, outlines the status and opportunities for the Supply Chain in the Time of COVID-19.  

The impact of COVID-19 has been overpowering - not just in the moment but perhaps permanently changing consumer behaviors and supply chain policies.  For example, the current spikes in online orders for home delivery strain the capacity to meet demand.  Consumers are left with little choice but to sometimes accept sub-optimal delivery dates and times, as well as food quality and food safety.

“Now is the time to implement new supply chain safety measures to solve the problems that are becoming more obvious as a result of this pandemic,” states Battoe.

“Business leaders with an eye to the future must have the conviction to act now in order to emerge stronger.”
